Bianca’s Hotel Journey

Years back when Bianca decided to quit her job in her home town somewhere in Romania, she didn't know she would end up being called an “island girl”. She packed her bags and traveled all the way to Bermuda to start a new adventure and take a break from everything “she was supposed to do”. This is how she started her journey and learned that working in the hospitality industry was not only fun, but also very rewarding. “The best part for me is being able to hear other stories coming from people all over the world. When you work in this industry you learn you have the power to make your guests’ day so much better.” Bianca joined the Sunshine Suites team early 2013 when she moved to Cayman Islands. “Working for this resort gave me the opportunity to work with some amazing people, to use my skills and learn so much more about hospitality. I also learned the success of a team depends on each and every team member”.  Currently Bianca is our Front Desk Supervisor and still loves living in the sun. “I live across the street from the beach. It still sounds surreal after all these years. I wouldn’t change a thing!”

Keira’s Hotel Journey

Always showing a passion for travel, tourism and hospitality, Keira grew up in England and later went on to spend several years living in Alberta, Canada. We were fortunate to have her join our team in 2011 where she settled with ease in to our front desk team and soon became our reservations expert. “I found enjoyment in the tourism industry after moving to Banff National Park in Canada. I just fell in love with the mountains, the scenery and vast number of activities available and simply enjoyed sharing my experience with visitors. Whether it was helping with planning activities before the guests arrived or making suggestion on what to do, see, and eat while they were here, there was always a rewarding felling knowing I had helped a guest with genuine local experiences.” Escaping the Canadian winter, Keira packed up and moved to Grand Cayman, switching her snowboard boots to flip flops! “I love the Cayman Islands, the people, and the lifestyle. How can you possibly complain about living and working here when your weekends are spent at the beach, diving, or taking a picnic out to Rum Point!?” Keira has recently relocated back to Canada and with her love now torn between the ocean and the mountains she continues to work closely with Sunshine Suites Team out of Vancouver Island. Whether you want to book your stay, or have questions leading up to your trip Keira is always on hand to answer any questions you may have.

Grand Cayman

This week’s travel blog round up appeals to the senses, from inspiring scents being dispensed at the airport to the taste of gin, which is no longer your grandparents’ drink. Camels & Chocolate visits the Grand Cayman Islands to celebrate its annual Pirates Week Festival, complete with a Jolly Roger pirate ship cruise. Heathrow Airport’s new device dispenses scents that inspire people to travel. Skift explains how they narrowed down the scents. It’s not a grandparents’ drink anymore: find out why gin has become one of the trendiest drinks in cocktail bars around the world according to A Luxury Travel Blog. Whether you find yourself in Vietnam or China, Triphackr shares how to access Facebook, Twitter and Youtube when it’s blocked. Last but not least, our own editor Kathleen Rellihan found her way into Fathom’s 24 best volunteer opportunities around the world.
