Simply Enchanting! My husband and I brought our two teenagers (16 & 18) for 5 nights. If you are thinking of booking a room here - go ahead with confidence! The rooms are absolutely clean and smell of nothing but fresh air. The staff are friendly, helpful and seem to be enjoying themselves (isn't that refreshing!). The pool is small - as our 18 year old son said, it was perfect - not too big to have to walk around it all of the time, but just big enough to warrant lounging around from time to time. The Sunshine Grill is amazing - great food and drinks and not too pricey. The atmosphere suited us to a T. I'm a vegan, our daughter is vegetarian and the guys eat anything - we were all quite happy at the Grill. As a vegan I was THRILLED with the complimentary breakfast - apples, bananas, grapes & sometimes fresh juicy watermelon - not to mention mango juice & orange juice. They also have scrambled eggs and bagels with cream cheese & muffins plus cereal and hashbrowns. I mean really, how much of a selection do you need? I'm sure that they'd be happy to fix some sausage or bacon for a fee if you absolutely have to have meat with breakfast. And you can eat from 7 am until 9:30!! Come back as often as you like. The only time they use the disposible silverware is at breakfast - and if that offends you, you can always bring your own dishes and silverware from your room, right? Actually, they are so nice there, they'd probably give you real plates etc to use at breakfast if you just ask nicely. There is fabulous snorkeling about 300 yards into the water - swim 200 yards straight out to the buoy that looks like a cat-in-the-hat hat and then swim 100 yards out at an angle - about 10 O'Clock. Wonderful coral and fish to see! Also, be sure to take a bus at least once to Cemetery Beach (just about 2 miles or so up the beach) ($2 Cayman or $2.50 US one way) You don't have to swim as far out there and the snorkeling is awesome! Take something to drink with you - there's a nice shady place on the beach there, but no one selling food or beverages close by. OK, so what we liked about Sunshine Suites was it was very very nice, laid back but the staff would do anything to be helpful if you just asked, the food was convenient & delicious and not too expensive, we felt very comfortable and safe. Sunshine Grill is a cute little place too - lots of personality! We met lots of nice people (other vacationers) from Canada, England & US. There is only one thing that I would ask you to think about - you are not right on the beach at this hotel. So, when you want to go to the beach, you can take the chairs that they provide for you just by the office and you walk to the street, cross it, and then walk the beach access between the Ritz & the Westin and then there you are - on a fabulous beach. The street that you cross can be busy at times. There's no crosswalk, so you just wait for a break in the action. The Caymanians are so nice though. Sometimes they will just stop traffic and let you cross! I've never seen that anywhere else. Honestly, we never had to wait long - and we were cautious because of course traffic comes from the direction that you are not used to if you are American. Check out the rates - if you must be right on the beach, I'm sure the Ritz or Westin would love to have you stay there - but my goodness you are going to pay so much more than we did! We loved our accommodations. We were on the 2nd floor. The rooms are nice and quiet, the kitchen and bath were great. My son brought a laptop and stayed connected with all of his friends and the internet whenever he pleased. My husband and I used it too - so nice! Oh, very nearby (go almost to the street and take a right, there's a little strip mall) is a restaurant called EATS. Again, a vegan, a vegetarian, and two meat eaters were all happy campers there. I can't think of anything to complain about - I could gripe that our stay there was too short, but that would just be greedy! The front desk staff were so helpful and friendly. They arranged for a taxi to take us to the airport at 4:45 AM (they arranged it the day before, the office is open from 7 AM - 10 PM). They even recommended a wonderful massage therapist when my husband got a crink in his neck. OK, so book your stay at Sunshine Suites and have a wonderful time. You'll be surrounded by nice people, pretty flowers and grounds - hang out in one of the hammocks some afternoon (heaven). The beach is absolutely spectacular - soft, fine white sand that welcomes you to the ocean that is just the perfect temperature. Oh and if you want a truly memorable experience that is treat for any water-loving animal lover - Call Sotos and book a trip out to StingRay City. OMG! $35 US per person and worth every cent! We went in the morning - they picked us up at the hotel front office at 9 am and we were back a bit before noon. The stingrays are simply incredible and these guys know how to give you a wonderful experience with them while respecting and caring for the stingrays. Billy (our guide) "knows" individual rays and handles them like they are his personal and beloved pets. He will take time with you and if you are comfortable handling the rays he will show you just how to do it so that you and the ray have a pleasant experience. OK, so I ramble. One more thing - this place didn't get the highest ratings for teenagers. All I can say is that we have two and they each had a blast. So, go and have a great time! — J. R.
